Job Description:
Provides technical and support services (and in some instances direct oversight and governance services) to Mechanical Enterprise Risk Projects at client, that will ultimately allow the Project Manager to execute project deliverables with quality, safety, on schedule, within budget, and in the most effective manner possible. They are considered an authority and an expert in their applicable field with supporting field experience and knowledge of best practices and current code requirements. They have and leverage, skillsets that challenge the quality of the execution strategies and validate readiness of the project to deliver successful execution of projects and/or deliverables that improve project schedules, reduce project cost, and/or reduce or eliminate project risks. They work directly for the CPM Manager or RMM Manager and with Project Managers of Enterprise Risk projects. Anecdotally, when Enterprise Risk Project(s) are refueling outage critical path(s), this position is leveraged to find ways to save client critical path hours (thousands of dollars), reduce outage durations (millions of dollars), and preclude risks coming to fruition that extend outage duration (tens of millions of dollars).
Principal Accountabilities:
- Conduct technical reviews of key project documentation to identify opportunities to improve schedule performance, quality, and resource efficiency.
- Review and evaluate project schedules, implementation methods, risk registers, work orders, quality control plans, testing and commissioning plans, clearance orders, turnover strategies, materials, tooling, resource loading plans, budgets, radiological strategies, and rigging/material handling plans.
- Identify errors, misconceptions, and process gaps during project reviews and recommend corrective actions for successful implementation.
- Validate the quality of all Work Order Tasks (WOTs) associated with assigned scope prior to field execution in accordance with Columbia work management processes.
- Remediate WOTs that contain poor quality, incorrect references, error traps, or unclear instructions.
- Review, comment on, and improve testing and acceptance plans including factory, shop, site, mock-up, and post-modification testing activities.
- Identify activities and processes that would benefit from mock-ups and provide guidance to ensure mock-ups are effective and impactful.
- Communicate relevant operating experience and identify industry or similar operational lessons learned related to project activities.
- Develop response and mitigation strategies based on operating experience examples.
- Serve as ASME PIC for Section XI Repair & Replacement Plan work scope as required.
- Maintain broad knowledge of applicable codes, standards, technologies, technical skills, implementation strategies, and industry trends related to Enterprise Risk Projects.
- Provide timely and candid feedback to Project Managers, Oversight Managers, and Department Management regarding project strategies, implementation plans, and execution risks.
- Provide oversight of shop and field activities to ensure work progresses according to approved project strategies and provide coaching when necessary.
- Serve as the designated person in charge of project activities during alternate shifts from the Project Manager, including oversight of crews exceeding 50 personnel when required.
- Coordinate resources and collaborate with vendors to identify and eliminate project roadblocks.
- Attend and support key project strategy meetings, including Design Review Boards, Steering Committees, Integrated Implementation Briefings, High Risk Work Plan meetings, Project Readiness Reviews, Schedule Development Meetings, and Risk Management Meetings.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience with production and operational processes at a commercial nuclear power plant.
- Experience supporting multiple refueling outages at a commercial nuclear power plant.
- Skilled in Enterprise Management Software such as Asset Suite and SAP.
- Intimately familiar with logic-driven schedules generated through Primavera and/or Microsoft Project.
- Strong knowledge of code and regulatory requirements related to maintenance and field work activities.
- Knowledge of error reduction and human performance improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with cost-effective work execution methodologies.
- Understanding of procedures and processes related to maintenance and engineering activities.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Requires an advanced (graduate) degree in a related field of study or business AND 10 years of Electrical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, and/or regulated industrial environment. OR
- Bachelor's degree in a related field of study or business AND 12 years of Electrical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, and/or regulated industrial environment. OR
- Associate degree from an accredited college or university AND 14 years of Electrical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, and/or regulated industrial environment. OR
- High School Diploma/GED AND 16 years of Electrical experience in a nuclear, steam-cycle, and/or regulated industrial environment.
