Remote Solar Sales Representative (Job Trainee)
Position Summary
The Remote Solar Sales Representative (Job Trainee) is an entry-level, training-focused role designed to support the development of foundational knowledge and skills in solar energy sales. This position is part of the Company’s workforce development efforts and is aligned with applicable Illinois programs, including the Climate and Equitable Jobs Act (CEJA) and Illinois Shines (ILSFA) initiatives.
The role provides structured, hands-on training in customer engagement, solar product education, and the sales process. The employee will progressively develop the ability to effectively communicate the value of solar energy solutions while supporting Company sales objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
During the training period and beyond, responsibilities include:
- Participate in structured training focused on solar energy systems, Company offerings, and the residential sales process
- Engage with prospective customers through Company-provided leads and self-generated opportunities
- Conduct virtual and/or in-person consultations (as applicable) under supervision during training
- Learn and apply Company sales methodologies, scripts, and customer qualification processes
- Assist in scheduling and supporting customer appointments
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of customer interactions and sales activities
- Ensure completion and accuracy of all required program and compliance documentation, including IPA disclosure forms
- Collaborate with sales leadership and team members to improve performance and skill development
- Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements
Training and Development
This role includes a structured training period designed to support professional development and progression:
- Initial training period focused on learning core job functions, systems, and expectations
- Ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback from sales leadership
- Gradual increase in responsibility, including customer interaction and sales activities
- Evaluation of performance to determine readiness for expanded responsibilities and incentive-based compensation opportunities
This position is intended to provide meaningful on-the-job training consistent with workforce development program expectations.
Compensation Overview
- Hourly base pay in accordance with Company compensation structure
- Eligibility for incentive-based compensation following training period, based on performance and business needs
- Additional incentive opportunities may include commission and performance-based bonuses
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- This is a remote, primarily sedentary role performed in a home office environment
- Requires extended periods of sitting, working on a computer, and communicating via phone or video
- Limited travel or field exposure may occur for training or customer engagement purposes, but no manual labor or construction-related duties are required
Compliance and Program Alignment
This position is designed to support the Company’s participation in applicable state programs, including CEJA and Illinois Shines (ILSFA), and may be classified as a Job Trainee role for program compliance purposes. Employees in this role are expected to complete all required documentation accurately and adhere to program guidelines.
