Metal Fabrication & Logistics Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

U.S. Shingle & Metal is hiring a Metal Fabrication & Logistics Manager to run the metal roofing side of our operation end to end — from coil on the rack to panels being delivered.

This is a management position with two halves. The first is production: owning the fabrication schedule, machine setup, and the quality of everything that leaves the shop. The second is logistics: planning loads, mapping deliveries, and ensuring long panels reach the correct job site, in the correct sequence, on the correct day. The right candidate can carry both without dropping either.

This role carries real authority. You will direct shop personnel, set the production schedule, and own the department's output. Reports to: Ownership.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Fabrication

• Set up, operate, and maintain roll formers, brakes, shears, slitters, and folders.
• Run standing seam, snap-lock, and exposed-fastener panel profiles to spec.
• Fabricate flashing, trim, drip edge, valley metal, ridge cap, counterflashing, and custom bends from shop drawings and field measurements.
• Read and interpret shop drawings, panel layouts, and roof plans; identify errors before material is cut.
• Manage coil and flat stock inventory by gauge, alloy, and color; flag reorders before a production run stalls.
• Own quality control — hem quality, seam engagement, oil canning, finish protection, and verification of correct gauge and color against the order.

Logistics & Delivery Planning

• Build and sequence the delivery schedule against the production calendar and installation crew readiness.
• Plan loads by job site: what ships together, what ships first, and how material is racked and secured so panels arrive straight and undamaged.
• Map delivery routes across the Tampa Bay region and the broader Florida market, accounting for panel length, trailer capacity, job site access, and unloading conditions.
• Coordinate delivery windows and site contacts with drivers, installation crews, and project managers.
• Manage oversized and long-load requirements, including permitting where applicable.
• Track delivery accuracy and convert misses into documented process corrections.

Team & Process Management

• Direct, schedule, and train warehouse and fabrication personnel.
• Maintain a production and delivery board that communicates status at a glance.
• Reduce waste through remnant utilization, run sequencing, and scrap control.
• Enforce shop safety practices around sheet metal handling, machinery, and material movement.
• Build the department's processes as the operation scales.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Three or more years of hands-on metal roofing fabrication experience.
• Demonstrated ability to set up and operate roll forming equipment and brakes.
• Ability to read shop drawings and roof plans and translate them into an accurate cut list.
• Documented experience planning deliveries, routes, or load schedules. This is a core requirement of the position, not a preference.
• Experience directing or supervising shop personnel.
• Strong applied math: angles, offsets, takeoffs, and linear footage.
• Valid Florida driver's license and a clean driving record.
• Able to work on-site full-time, lift 50 lbs, and perform in a shop environment in Florida heat.

Preferred

• Prior experience running a fabrication shop or managing production scheduling.
• Familiarity with Florida Building Code requirements and Florida Product Approval / Miami-Dade NOA documentation for metal roofing assemblies.
• Forklift certification.
• Working comfort with spreadsheets, scheduling software, or ERP/inventory systems.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

COMPENSATION & TERMS

• $1,500–$2,000 per week, commensurate with experience.
• Full-time, year-round position.
• On-site at the Clearwater facility.
• Direct reporting line to ownership, with real authority over the department.
