Position Summary:
The Production Lead plays a key leadership role in overseeing daily production operations within a modified commercial roofing manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for coordinating personnel, ensuring safety and quality standards are upheld, maintaining production schedules, and driving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of modified bitumen or asphalt-based roofing products and manufacturing processes, along with demonstrated leadership abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day production activities for assigned shifts or production lines.
- Ensure that all team members follow proper safety protocols and compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Monitor production output to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets in accordance with plant schedules.
- Maintain high quality standards by inspecting products and coordinating with quality control team to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for equipment or process issues, escalating to maintenance or supervisors as necessary.
- Train, mentor, and support production workers in operating machinery, material handling, and best manufacturing practices.
- Ensure all raw materials are available and used efficiently, report shortages or issues to inventory or supply chain personnel.
- Collaborate with supervisors, maintenance, and quality teams to continuously improve plant operations and reduce downtime.
- Complete daily production reports, logbooks, and timekeeping records accurately and timely.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and accountability among crew members.
- Participating in root cause analyses and corrective actions for safety incidents, quality issues, or equipment failures.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
- 3 years of manufacturing experience, preferably in roofing or asphalt-related industries.
- 1–2 years of experience in a lead or supervisory role strongly preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and direct a diverse crew.
- Knowledge of modified bitumen or similar roofing product manufacturing a plus.
- Working knowledge of production equipment such as extruders, coaters, winders, or roll forming machines.
- Ability to read and interpret production schedules, specifcation, and safety data sheets.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, ERP systems).
- Effective communication skills—verbal and written.
- Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 100 lbs, and work in a non-climate-controlled or noisy industrial environment.
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical endurance.
Work Environment:
- Fast-paced industrial manufacturing setting with exposure to heat, odors, moving mechanical parts, and loud noise.
- Overtime Required, evening, or weekend shifts depending on production demands.

Pay: $23.73 - $28.58 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
