Summary of Position
The United States Performance Center (USPC) seeks Sports Performance Dietitian to optimize the health and performance of Team USA athletes. This role involves assisting with individual nutrition counseling, team education, meal plan development, fueling station operations, assessments, documentation, and developing educational materials. The position requires strong communication, collaboration, and a passion for sports nutrition in a multidisciplinary environment.
About USPC:
United States Performance Center is an elite training facility located in Charlotte, NC, that specializes in research-based athletic development, injury prevention, and overall health and athletic performance for Team USA athletes. Staff work closely together to create individualized programs for athletes, helping them perform at the highest level. USPC is currently home to several National Governing Bodies, encompassing both team and individual sports.
Role Overview:
The Sports Performance Dietitian shall be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the assigned team's performance nutrition program. This position is intended to directly assist and support all athletes, and to work closely with the team's sport coaches, certified athletic trainers, sport performance coaches, sport psychologists, and physicians regarding the athletes' health, wellness, and performance. The position requires strong clinical skills in the areas of weight management, eating disorders, and other Medical Nutrition Therapy diagnoses, as well as a sound knowledge of performance enhancement principles and strategies. Responsibilities and essential job functions include:
- Management of day-to-day Nutrition Department operations.
- Provide individual nutritional counseling to athletes.
- Develop and design educational materials, and present specialized team talks according to team needs.
- Monitor inventory and nutrition orders while staying within the performance nutrition budget.
- Upkeep of the fueling station and the management of nutrition volunteers.
- Development of training table menus, home and travel meals, and snacks for assigned teams.
- Conduct and analyze team body composition testing using methods such as SECA and DEXA scans.
- Assist with supervision, recommendation, and education of dietary supplementation for athletes.
- Research and analyze scientific reports related to nutrition and athletic performance, including nutritional supplements and diets, translating the findings into sound advice for athletes, coaches, strength staff, and sports medicine staff.
- Attend and participate in regular Multidisciplinary Team, Sports Medicine, and Department meetings.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures as well as any affiliated governing bodies, rules and regulations i.e. US Center for SafeSport, World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), etc.
- Maintain compliance with HIPPA.
- Maintain knowledge of departmental activities, team schedules and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Nutrition.
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Nutrition or a closely related field
- 3 or more years of experience managing nutritional needs of athletes. Prior experience working with professional or collegiate athletes preferred.
Required Licensure and Certification
- Licensed Dietitian - State license (LDN)
- Registered Dietitian (RD) - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)

Salary and Benefits:
$75,000 - $95,000 per year, commensurate with experience and credentials, with annual compensation review. Employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance. Employer 401k match. Annual continuing education stipend. Paid time off and sick leave.
USPC actively supports ongoing education, conference attendance, and research collaboration for all staff. USPC provides employees with an annual continuing education stipend to cover CEU and licensure reimbursement.
