Patient Service Coordinator

About the Role
Southern Cancer Center is seeking a compassionate and organized Patient Service Coordinator to join our team at our Daphne office. This front-line role is essential to ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for our patients and their families. You'll be the first point of contact, responsible for registration, scheduling, and communication between patients and clinical staff.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors professionally and promptly
- Register patients, verify insurance, and collect co-pays
- Schedule appointments and provide clear instructions and details
- Answer and direct incoming calls; relay messages accurately
- Maintain patient records and update demographic information
- Support administrative tasks including filing and supply management
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and uphold confidentiality standards
- Maintain a clean and organized lobby area
- Assist with other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior receptionist or office experience preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Must complete required e-learning courses within 90 days of hire
- Strong adaptability, commitment to quality, and customer service focus
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, and communicate effectively
- Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Requires corrected vision and hearing
- Must be present during regular business hours
Work Environment
- Exposure to medical environments including communicable diseases and radiation
- In-person interaction with patients, staff, and management
- Occasional travel to other office sites may be required
