Duties

The United States Space Force (USSF) at Peterson SFB, Colorado Springs, CO is searching for a Chief, Space Planning Team Division, HQ CFC S3579/S7S (NH-0343-04, GS-14/15 Equivalent).

Description:
Do you have experience in Space Planning Teams (SPT)? If so, then the United States Space Force's (USSF) Combat Forces Command (CFC) is looking for you to serve as Chief, Space Planning Team Division in the HQ CFC S3579/S7 Directorate. There's a reason Colorado Springs has ranked in the top 10 U.S. cities to live for the past several years. There is so much the Pikes Peak Region has to offer including beautiful mountain views, an abundance of recreational activities, good economic growth, top-rated schools, and lots of activities for families such as parks, museums, zoos, and more! Be part of history in the America's newest service!

Ideal Candidate:
Serve as Chief, Space Planning Team (SPT) Division, performing headquarters-level senior program analyst planning, organizing, and training while determining guidance, regulations, directives, programs, doctrine, and procedures for the management and training of the six Space Component Command Space Planning Teams. These eight 24-person teams provide 192 personnel designed to provide essential planning support to USSF Component Field Commands (C-FLDCOMs) in operational-level planning during crisis, contingency, and Tier-1 exercises. The Chief SPT Division will interact with the SPTs and the Space Component Commands to ensure proper planning of exercises and real world crisis events support.

Position Responsibilities.
Summary:
Serve as authoritative expert in all aspects of offensive and defensive space operations. As the Master Integrator for Space Production Team (SPT) readiness, directly shaping the training, deployment, and operational success of eight 24-person teams (192 Military, 1 Civilian, and 2 Contractors). Operating with high autonomy, translate high-level strategic decisions into actionable readiness protocols and theater-level execution plans for USSF Component Field Commands (C-FLDCOMs) and Combatant Commands (CCMDs).

Duties.
Operational Planning: Lead operational-level planning for C-FLDCOMs during crises, contingencies, and Tier-1 exercises. Apply expert analytic, Joint Pub 5-0, and Space Planning Process skills to develop major mission and operational plans compatible with Component and CCMD Operational Area Inspections (OAIs).
Program Direction & Readiness: Serve as key program administrator and master integrator for SPT training, exercises, and real-world deployments. Conduct or direct integration activities at higher levels with only general guidance, solving highly complex, multi-disciplinary problems.
Methodology Development: Invent new space planning methods to support major Space Force and CCMD operational plans based on in-depth familiarity with overseas theater mission support requirements.
Policy Analysis: Analyze effect of high-level decisions (e.g., Joint Chiefs of Staff) on readiness processes, developing necessary changes, and defending justification rationales to senior management.
Executive Briefings: Prepare and present high-level briefings, Commander's Estimates, Staff Estimates, reports, and background papers on technical areas of expertise.
Deployment Architecture: Establish Requests for Support (RFS) processes, Unit Type Codes (UTC), and refined requirements for future deployers while engaging with STARCOM for SPT Course development.
Strategic Liaison: Maintain continuous liaison with other Space Staffs, Sister Services, Direct Reporting Units (DRUs), and DoD offices. Chair or represent the organization on working groups and hosting bilateral planning conferences.
