Position Summary
The successful candidate will lead pre-construction activities including development coordination and turnover to an EPC partner for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, supporting the full project lifecycle from early-stage development through EPC contract execution, construction, commissioning, and commercial operations. This role serves as the primary bridge between Development, EPC partners, internal stakeholders, and external contractors. The position is responsible for managing EPC budgets, schedules, risks, and resources; supporting financing and contract negotiations; and ensuring successful transition of projects from development into construction and operations. The role requires close collaboration across solar and energy storage development, finance, engineering, supply chain, contracts, construction, commissioning, and asset management. This role will act as the Owner’s representative to successfully transfer a Project from development phase to construction phase to operations ensuring our EPC partners and projects remain on track with the quality and performance requirements of CIG.
Key Responsibilities
· EPC Strategy & Preconstruction
· Lead the transition of projects from early-stage development into EPC contract execution to O&M.
· Direct responsibility for ensuring quality of development packages and managing formal documented turnover process to external partners for pre-construction phases and through operations.
· Assist EPC partner to manage EPC schedules from early-stage development through EPC execution.
· Track schedules and risk assessments to support Business Development and Finance.
· Maintain the overall EPC pipeline schedule aligned with development milestones.
· Identify key resource needs, risks, and mitigation strategies during the preconstruction phase.
· Identify high-risk items and develop action plans in coordination with Management.
· Establish the process/requirements of our EPC partners at major project milestones including mechanical, substantial, and final completions, on-site inspections, EPC check ins and reporting, coordination with operations for turnover, project alignment with EPC partners and CIG requirements.
· Engineering & Design Coordination
· Coordinate with Engineering teams to optimize solar and energy storage plant designs for energy production, constructability, and cost efficiency.
· Provide direction and coordinate with EPC partner with external engineers supporting early-stage studies, design development, and permitting.
· Work closely with Project Development to understand real estate, legal, environmental, permitting, interconnection, and constructability considerations.
· Verify constructability and ensure design alignment with field execution requirements.
· Procurement & Supply Chain
· Coordinate with Supply Chain to evaluate best-in-class equipment offerings from major suppliers.
· Support procurement strategies and ensure alignment with cost, schedule, and technical requirements.
· Assist in incorporating current market pricing, lead times, and construction lessons learned into estimates and forecasts.
· EPC Contracting & Partner Management
· Assist with all Owner inputs required for EPC contracts, including technical exhibits, schedules, scope definitions, assumptions, and risk allocations.
· Serve as the primary direct interface with the EPC partner throughout preconstruction, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
· Commissioning & Commercial Operations
· Act as Owner’s representative to ensure the EPC partners test and commission projects to CIG requirements.
· Assist in the drafting and establishment of commissioning and testing standards.
· Coordinate commissioning plans, testing procedures, and schedules with EPC partners, engineers, and operations teams.
· Lead the transition from construction and commissioning into Operations,
· Maintenance, and Asset Management.
Qualifications & Experience
· 10 years experience and Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction
· Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
· Owner’s representative experience preferred, full renewable project lifecycle experience development experience preferred.
· Extensive experience managing EPC activities for utility-scale solar and/or energy storage projects.
· Proven experience with EPC contract development, negotiation, and execution.
· Strong understanding of engineering design, procurement strategies, construction execution, and commissioning.
· Demonstrated experience managing budgets, schedules, risk registers, and contingency allocations.
· Ability to directly manage and interface with EPC partners, contractors, and vendors.
· Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
· Experience supporting project financing and lender technical due diligence.
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced development and construction environment.

Pay: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00 per year
