Job Responsibilities
- Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- o Oversee compliance with state and federal regulations regarding driver hours and mileage (HOS)
- o Maintain Department of Transportation (DOT) files and ensure all driver qualification files meet regulatory standards
- o Keep critical fleet documents, including insurance, inspection and registration current and accessible
- Performance Monitoring & Safety
- Monitor and evaluate driver performance, addressing incidents, equipment failures, and potential service disruptions promptly.
- Ensure adherence to safety regulations and verify that training methods are effective in promoting safe driving practices.
- Investigate collisions using Samsara GPS videos and coordinate steps with HR and the insurance company
- Develop and administer driver safety training for non-cdl drivers
- Maintenance & Coordination
- Schedule and oversee periodic maintenance of all fleet equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Manage needs for new vehicles and vehicle sales
- Operational Compliance & Industry Standards
- Guarantee that fleet operations are in line with federal, state, and local regulations, including environmental and safety standards
- Stay informed on industry regulations and advocate for updates to maintain compliance
- Data Management & Reporting
- Utilize fleet management software to gather and analyze data on vehicle utilization, costs, maintenance and performance
- Manage overall fleet budget by monitoring outliers that impact budget numbers.
- Generate comprehensive reports and presentations for senior management, offering insights for continuous improvement
- Administrative Proficiency
- Exhibit expertise in the use of transportation management systems and ensure procedural compliance
- Ability to develop and maintain excel spreadsheets
- General Duties
- Manage vehicle licensure and registration processes
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred
- Proficient with CDL, DOT and HOS standards
- Proficient with Federal, State and local transportation and intermodal regulations
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the transportation industry preferred
Qualifications
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to inspire a dynamic service team
- Friendly, positive demeanor showing empathy and clear understanding of professional boundaries with clients and colleagues
- Advanced knowledge of computer software, digital tools (Smartsheets, GPS/Telematics, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with satellite tracking and communication software is a plus
