The selectee for this Supervisory Business Operations Specialist position serves as a senior advisor on the AFD Executive Team and works with the Assistant Director and the Deputy Assistant Director in addressing a wide range of complex and sensitive issues.

This position is located in the Asset Forfeiture Division / Arlington, Virginia.

Qualifications:

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit Promotion and Veterans Employment Opportunity Act (VEOA) Status applicants must provide an SF50 Notice of Personnel Action that indicates proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility. The SF50 must include the position, title, series, grade, step, tenure, type of service (Competitive or Excepted) and career status (career or career-conditional). No award SF50 will be accepted as proof of status and time-in-grade eligibility.
  • One year at the GS-14 grade level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-15 grade level.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the specialized experience required for the grade level(s) to which you apply.

To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must meet the following:

Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. You must have at least one year (12 months) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service performing the following duties:
  1. Providing administrative, technical, and human resources management supervision to staff members to include but not limited to career development, performance management, and disciplinary actions;
  2. Evaluating asset management practices, trends, and technology and recommending changes where necessary to streamline or improve the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of the services provided;
  3. Directing the formulation of highly effective asset management and disposition strategies;
  4. Developing standards to inventory, store, safeguard, value, and maintain of seized personal property, seized real property, or other seized property asset types; AND
  5. Determining special or unique contractual provisions required to manage and dispose of distinctly different asset types.

Responsibilities:

As a Supervisory Business Operations Specialist at the GS-1101-15 grade level, some of your typical work assignments may include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Serves as Program Manager for the Asset Management Section, overseeing the management and disposal of seized personal property, real property, and emerging assets in support of the DOJ Asset Forfeiture Program.
  • Supervises government staff and oversees contract support personnel, including assigning work, setting priorities, evaluating performance, and identifying training needs.
  • Oversees development and administration of national contracts supporting asset management and disposal services.
  • Evaluates asset management practices and recommends changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Represents the USMS in complex negotiations involving high-end and/or multimillion dollar assets.
