What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Support Specialist position at US Heart & Vascular?
US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Clinical Support Specialist to join our team at Pima Heart and Vascular in Tucson AZ.
Responsibilities:
- Schedule patient appointments
- Collect vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight and height for recording in patient charts
- Handle incoming faxes, orders, referrals, scanning, etc.
- Work with Medical Assistants to ensure patients are roomed in a timely manner
- Send out prescription orders per physician orders and manage prescription refills
- Gather prior authorizations on all medications
- Fill out testing orders and explain testing to the patient
- Return patient calls/tasks, even if only to acknowledge receipt of the voicemail and that an answer is being sought
- Ensure charts are being prepped and checked to ensure that the proper paperwork is included
- Prepare bag for travel to satellite clinics
- Coordinate remote clinics as needed
- Answer operator calls if the operator is out or unavailable
- Manage all hospital procedure orders, scheduling and authorizations
- Check voicemails and respond in a timely manner
- Maintain a stocked and updated Code Cart
- Perform other duties as assigned or required
Requirements:
- Healthcare setting knowledge
- Medical office experience preferred but not required
- Cardiovascular experience preferred but not required
