JOB SUMMARY:

This position facilitates key programs and initiatives; supports sport growth and positive Affiliate relationships and assists with Championships in conjunction with the Senior Director and other National Sport staff through a variety of work with committees and programs. Responsibilities include scheduling, organizing, managing files, copying/faxing/scanning and information flow, data entry, problem solving, answering calls and emails. This position interacts with staff, members, competition officials, committees, volunteers and the general public. The following summary includes, but is not limited to, major responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned by management, pursuant to business needs:

Duties and Responsibilities:

Breed/Discipline Development:

  • Serve as aid to liaisons for committees and Affiliates, if applicable.
  • Making committee meeting arrangements including maintaining committee materials, producing meeting documentation, and scheduling future meetings.
  • Staying abreast of industry developments.
  • Conducting research, working on special projects, and supporting the development of the breed/discipline 
  • Collaborate with other departments and volunteers on creation of educational materials related to breeds/disciplines
  • Work with the Department Director and Program Managers on development opportunities within National Sport.
  • Acting as an ambassador of the Federation at conventions, competitions, and committee meetings requiring some overnight travel. 
  • Assisting the Director of National Sport with Affiliate related projects that requires collaboration with other departments, data skills, and industry knowledge. 


Championship/Program Support:

  • Managing applicable National Sport Department programs and functions.
  • Arranging logistics of programs and/or special events and promotions off site to guarantee professional success of USEF functions often requiring independent decision making skills.
  • Working directly with Program Manager responsible for the program/championship to understand needs and responsibilities, providing support services to the Program Manager.
  • Providing continued support of the US Equestrian Strategic Plan including brainstorming of new initiatives and enhancement of current products. 
  • Interaction with members, officials, volunteers and internal staff.
  • Data entry and filing/scanning of paperwork.
  • Assisting with Championship responsibilities such as written materials and communications 
  • Assisting with qualified materials for Championships.
  • Updating program/Championship material as needed.
  • Prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines as needed.
  • Scheduling meetings with relevant staff or members to discuss programs when needed.
  • Evaluating programs and preparing reports on an ongoing basis to insure efficiency in program.
  • Developing educational tools to assist with program understanding as needed.
  • Some outside travel to events. 
  • Research for new or ongoing initiatives as needed.
  • Works on Championships, special events and special projects as necessary.
  • Provides support to other Program Managers and Department Director as necessary.

  • Programs and/or championships are supporteddeveloped and duties performed in a manner befitting the NGB.
  • Federation rules are interpreted, communicated and implemented accurately.
  • Committee/Council work is appropriately organized and communicated to the liaison in a timely manner. 
  • Communication with Department Director is on-going and effective, and results in management being well informed of all issues of importance.
  • Exceptional member service is provided, and member relationships are enhanced.
  • Communication with members and staff is effective and professional.
  • Relationships with Directors and other staff are productive and promote a positive team environment.
  • Assistance is provided to other department members when needed.


Required, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work extremely well as part of a team.
  • Ability to work well under pressure with tact, kindness, and professionalism.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.


Education and Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Some college preferred.
  • Experience in the equestrian sport or related field preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional travel
  • Extended hours of availability, including evenings and weekends.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. (Anything over 25 pounds requires a two person lift)
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking during events.
