Accounts Payable Supervisor
Are you someone who takes pride in developing teams, improving processes, and ensuring financial operations run smoothly? Our client is looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to lead their AP department while helping train and mentor team members for future growth opportunities within the organization.
The primary function of this position is to supervise the Accounts Payable department, support the development of AP staff, prepare 1099 and unclaimed property reports, and assist with month-end close activities and account reconciliations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervise hourly Accounts Payable employees
- Prepare 1099 reports
- Monitor credits or refunds due from vendors
- Process voids and reversals of AP transactions
- Enter wire and ACH transactions into the accounts payable system
- Ensure department proficiency with the accounting system
- Prepare unclaimed property reports
- Assist with implementing new systems, processes, and procedures to improve efficiency and strengthen internal controls
- Support the transition to electronic payments and monitor fraud prevention measures
- Evaluate and monitor business continuity planning preparedness
- Prepare monthly closing journal entries
- Complete account reconciliations
- Assist with month-end AP transaction reviews
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Analyze expense trends to support accrual and prepaid accounting
- Train and mentor new and existing team members
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience
Experience
- 5–7 years of Accounts Payable experience
- Minimum of 3 years of Accounts Payable supervisory experience
- Public company and SOX compliance experience preferred
- Experience with online accounts payable systems
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
- Advanced SAP experience required
