Fabrication & Finishing Lead - Door Manufacturing

US Door & More Inc.
Tampa, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 10/19/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 4/15/2027

US Door & More is hiring a working Fabrication and Finishing Lead to guide our door assembly and finishing team.

You will combine skilled fabrication with daily preparation, employee training, and quality checks. The starting department includes two fabricators and two painters. Approved drawings and CNC programs are prepared, and an existing CNC Manager handles programming and machining troubleshooting.

We need someone who understands how to produce accurate work repeatedly—and can teach others to do the same.

What you’ll do

  • Organize daily fabrication and finishing work around production priorities.
  • Read drawings, verify components and dimensions, and resolve discrepancies before work proceeds.
  • Perform and guide cutting, drilling, component preparation, door and frame assembly, glazing, glass-stop installation, and simulated divided lite work.
  • Develop jigs, stops, templates, setups, and clear instructions that make recurring tasks reliable.
  • Train employees through demonstration, supervised practice, and verification.
  • Inspect work at the right stages, including first pieces and checks before irreversible assembly, glazing, or coating.
  • Oversee surface preparation, paint and stain sequencing, drying and curing requirements, and finish acceptance.
  • Coordinate rework with CNC leadership and keep progress, shortages, and quality records current.
  • Maintain safe work practices, organized work areas, and properly maintained tools.

This position includes time for preparation, training, and inspections alongside hands-on production.

What you bring

  • Ideally, five or more years in wood fabrication, including two or more years leading or training others.
  • Experience in doors, architectural millwork, cabinetry, furniture, fixtures, or comparable precision woodworking.
  • Strong drawing interpretation, measurement, cutting, fitting, clamping, and assembly skills.
  • Practical knowledge of wood movement, moisture, adhesives, sealants, surface preparation, and common fabrication defects.
  • Safe, accurate use of woodworking machinery, measuring tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • The ability to explain a method clearly, correct problems consistently, and develop other workers.
  • Comfort using digital drawings, checklists, basic spreadsheets, photographs, and job records.

You should understand finishing requirements and recognize when specialist support is needed. Advanced spray-finishing expertise is helpful; competent finishing oversight is essential.

A college degree and advanced CNC programming are not required. Relevant vocational training is welcome.

Schedule and expectations

Work follows the agreed production schedule, with occasional overtime or early, late, or weekend support when needed. This is an hourly position, and all working time must be recorded.

We value practical problem-solving, early communication, and pride in developing a team that produces consistent work.

Apply

Apply through LinkedIn with your résumé or work history. Briefly describe the products you have built, employees you have trained, and your finishing experience.

  • Finalists will participate in a shop visit and paid practical assessment. Current employers will not be contacted without permission.
