This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval , award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. RESPONSIBILITIES: This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026. All eligible applicants will be reviewed and referred to the hiring manager at regular two-week intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as-needed basis.

Supervisory:

Supervises PACT and M2VA Social Workers and interdisciplinary program staff and provides technical and clinical supervision necessary for accomplishing the work in both services.

Performs the administrative and personnel management functions relative to staff supervised.

Exercises supervisory authority and responsibilities involving work assignments and review, as well as the administrative and personnel management functions relative to the staff supervised.

Independently provides consultation services to other staff within the clinic, division, and medical center regarding the psychosocial needs of Veterans, the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and adherence to treatment planning related to PACT Social Work and the M2VA program.

Provides leadership in identifying and addressing ethical issues impacting Veterans and staff, and initiates and participates in ethical consultations as appropriate. Provides considerate care, respecting Veteran and family value and belief systems.

Monitors policy and procedures to ensure compliance with Joint Commission (JC), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and other accrediting bodies and regulatory standards as needed.

Manages the daily operation of the facility M2VA Program and PACT Social Work services and provides accountability for program effectiveness and modification of service patterns to enhance customer satisfaction.

Patient Care:

Provides clinical social work services to a reduced panel of patients. Identifies unmet needs and works collaboratively with facility, VISN, and VA Central Office to develop and implement solutions. Develops and implements a plan for outreach for the M2VA program and to extend services to post 9/11 Service Members and Veterans who may benefit from care.

Has working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnosis, disabilities, and treatment procedures.

Independently identifies high-risk patients and provides case management services for chronic disease management in collaboration with their PACT team and attached ancillary services as well as for M2VA program service members/veterans.

Provides crisis intervention services, if needed, seeking to address cause as well as the presenting complaint, coordinates family conferences, and serves as liaison to family members.

Provides treatment intervention in collaboration with the Veteran and family, interdisciplinary treatment team, and community members.

Coordinates community-based services, including information and referral for additional services from other VA program, other government programs, and community agency programs.

Has general knowledge of Veterans' benefits and services relating to special programs, service connected compensation, and non-service connected pension.

Provides education to Veterans and families related to VA benefits and service, community resources, entitlements.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66 .

United States Citizenship: Be a citizen of the United States. (Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g this part).

English Language Proficiency. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f).

Education. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Verification of the degree can be made by going to http://www.cswe.org/Accreditation to verify that the social work degree meets the accreditation standards for a masters of social work.

Licensure. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Current state requirements may be found by going to http://vaww.va.gov/OHRM/T38Hybrid/.

Grade Determinations :

Supervisory Social Worker, GS-12

Education and Experience. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. ( Copy of transcript with conferred/graduation date required )

Licensure/Certification. Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure . ( Copy of advanced practice licensure required )

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). In addition to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate all of the following KSAs:

(a) Ability to independently organize work, set priorities, and meet multiple deadlines.

(b) Knowledge of supervisory duties which includes clinical supervision, consultation, negotiation with other departments and quality improvement.

(c) Ability to ensure provision of clinical social work services.

(d) Ability to provide staff training and development.

(e) Skill in interpersonal relationships in dealing with employees, team leaders, and managers.

The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-12.

Physical Requirements: Light lifting (under 15 lbs.), moderate carrying (15-44 lbs.), use of fingers, walking, standing, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 to and to 20/40 in the other, both eyes, hearing (aid may be permitted), and emotional/mental stability.
