Laborer (Custodial) (Seasonal)

You will serve as a Laborer (Custodial) (Seasonal) Independence National Historical Parks Service.

You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.

Qualifications:

All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-08/07/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement. All candidates must also meet Time-in-Grade requirements.

Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT): ability to perform the most difficult and complex laboring tasks receiving only general supervision and instructions, including having the ability to work verbally or through work orders; performing janitorial and custodial duties; receiving only general supervision and instructions as to what is to be accomplished in the assigned area and must wear all required PPE and use equipment safely; determine onsite methods to be used in the accomplishment of assignments; and make adjustments as needed.

Physical Demands: The work performed requires the exertion of moderate to very heavy physical effort. The work involves lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds, and in some cases, carrying 80 to 100 pounds (or more) with assistance.

Working Conditions: Outside work is usually performed under all kinds of weather conditions. Indoor work is often accomplished in office buildings or in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas such as warehouses, loading docks, or trade shops. Frequently exposed to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise, dust, and dirt and the possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes. Work requires the employee to follow proper safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes to avoid possible hazards in the work area.

Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
