Overview
The Sr Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability at an advanced level, administering Tier 3 level support to employees and external parties.
Job Highlights
- Assists with full administration of all benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, FSA (Health & Dependent Care), Accident, Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Legal, ID Theft, etc.
- Assists with benefit inquiries and Service Now Tickets.
- Assists Leave Department with escalated leave issues and supports Benefits Specialist on processing STD payments for self-funded employees.
- Upon Request: Monitors and supports benefit in arrears premium payments process for employees to out on leave to pay their benefit premiums to USAP.
- Reviews monthly leave report to determine employees who need to be terminated.
- Monitors LTD dates from prior acquisitions to ensure LTD benefits are accurately adjudicated through our current disability carrier.
- Reviews BAR (Benefit Annual Rate) amounts for accuracy for life and disability payments.
- Oversees the processes of leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA in conjunction with the Leaves Department.
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRIS Workday to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Provides ongoing audits to ensure accuracy of all benefit data within Workday.
- Works to help create Train the Trainer and SharePoint presentations/documents for reference and visibility to USAP population.
- Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes at escalated level of need and detail.
- Assists Director and Benefits Manager with creation of open enrollment documentation and detail audit for communication pieces.
- Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and ensures eligibility is accurate within Workday.
- Responds to benefits inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
- Assists with the open enrollment process and helps to answer escalated questions.
- Provides necessary reports for allocation/billing charges for invoice processing and premium adjustments. Also, updating the benefit invoice tracker.
- Updating and creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
- Supports Benefits Manager with ACA compliance program.
- Supporting PTO management and annual payout for platforms.
- Maintains employee confidence by keeping benefit information confidential.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field of study
- 3-5 years of experience in related field
- Computer skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- Workday experience, Excel vLookup, pivot tables, Word, PowerPoint
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Knowledge of employee benefits and laws
