Duties
- Assist with animal handling and restraint to ensure safe procedures during examinations, treatments, and surgeries
- Support veterinary technicians with tasks such as IV insertion, medication administration, and catheterization
- Monitor animals’ vital signs, behavior, and overall condition throughout the night to detect any changes requiring immediate attention
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels, treatment areas, and surgical spaces by performing thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures
- Record detailed patient information including medical history, treatments administered, and observations in medical records
- Help with animal husbandry duties such as feeding, grooming, and ensuring proper animal comfort and welfare
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding pet care instructions and updates while maintaining professionalism at all times
Experience
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling background is highly desirable
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting is preferred
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and behavior is beneficial
- Hands-on experience with surgery support, medication administration, IV insertion, and catheterization is a plus
- Familiarity with front desk operations or client communication enhances your ability to support the team effectively
- Strong skills in record keeping, animal restraint techniques, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential
- Previous exposure to equine or dog handling adds valuable versatility to your skill set
