Job Description
Coordinate activities and assigned responsibilities in facilities and dormitories through planning and team collaboration for the benefit of the students as well as upholding the integrity and standards set forth by the institution. Facilitate all appropriate support services given for the betterment and/or the development of the students. Instill accountability among students. Assist in providing support and personal care for coworkers and students as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with planning and organizing events for the residents in the residence halls
- Maintain the cleanliness of the residence hall common areas as assigned by Lead RA’s and/or Head RA
- Attend weekly meetings with the Resident Life Manager and Resident Life team
- Serve as a role model in every aspect of university and residential life
- Represent and support student life and the university interactions with students, faculty, staff, parents, and guests
- Communicate and enforce university policies and resident life regulations
- Be familiar with all printed materials directly affecting the operation of resident life, including policies, forms and student handbooks
- Respect and maintain confidentiality of students and staff
- Demonstrate a caring and supportive attitude toward others and endeavor to be understanding of others whose lifestyles and behavior vary from their own
- Maintain the health and safety of the residence hall
- Assist with move-in and move-out
- Assist in crisis situations
- Maintain regular contact with the Resident Life Manager, Director of Student Services, and other staff members in order to ensure adequate communication concerning dorm situations, programs, etc.
- Report maintenance and IT issues in the prescribed manner
- Maintain high visibility on the floor and on the campus
- Endeavor to involve students in student body activities
- Mediate roommate conflicts
Qualifications
- Must maintain a minimum of 2.5 GPA or higher
- Finished two consecutive semesters as a student
- Must be enrolled full-time
- Be in good financial standing with the University
- Be in good standing with the DOSS office
- Ability to work up to 12 hours per week
- Good communication skills
- Ability to complete time-oriented task
- Must have the ability to monitor and operate in stressful environments
- Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 20lbs
