Urschel, a 100% employee-owned company, is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and support electrical control systems and power circuitry for industrial food processing equipment. This role is responsible for developing electrical designs, creating technical documentation, supporting manufacturing and troubleshooting activities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective machine solutions. This onsite position reports to the Electrical Engineering Manager and is based at our corporate headquarters in Chesterton, Indiana.
Responsibilities include:
- Design electrical control systems and power circuitry for industrial food processing equipment.
- Develop electrical schematics, drawings, CAD models, bills of material, and related technical documentation.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers throughout the machine design and production process.
- Support machine testing, troubleshooting, and technical problem resolution for both internal teams and customers.
- Ensure designs meet safety, quality, regulatory, and performance requirements.

The qualified candidate will possess, at a minimum, a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. Experience with industrial controls, machine automation, and electrical system design is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency with CAD software, preferably SolidWorks, along with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers. Knowledge of electrical standards, machine safety principles, and industrial equipment is a plus.
