What are the responsibilities and job description for the IT Project Manager position at URS Group?
The Project Manager is responsible for leading complex, technology-driven initiatives across transportation. This role will work cross-functionally with IT, operations, and business stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead end-to-end delivery of technical logistics projects, including system integrations, and platform enhancements
- Manage API and EDI integrations between internal systems, shippers, carriers, and 3PL partners
- Create and maintain detailed project plans, including technical milestones, dependencies, and resource allocation
- Oversee data mapping, transformation logic, and validation for system integrations
- Coordinate testing efforts (unit, integration, UAT) and production deployments
- Monitor system performance post-launch and drive continuous improvement
- Identify technical risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks; proactively implement mitigation strategies
- Ensure proper documentation of workflows, system architecture, and integration points
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies (standups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, or equivalent related experience
- 5 years of project management, transportation or 3PL
- Maintain thorough knowledge of best practices for data security, cloud security, identity and access management, application security, network security / architecture and cyber resilience.
- Industry certifications are desirable
- Strong understanding of supply chain operations (dispatch, routing, freight brokerage, fleet operations)
- Experience with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
Preferred
- PMP, Scrum Master, or Agile certification
- Experience with EDI standards and logistics messaging
- Experience with SQL, data analysis, or BI tools
- Exposure to microservices architecture and event-driven systems
