Position Summary

The Cancer Institute Program Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating the clinical and operational delivery of comprehensive urologic care. This role ensures patients receive seamless, evidence-based care from diagnosis through treatment, survivorship, and long-term follow-up. Serving as the operational liaison among physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, patient navigation, radiation therapy, Integrated Oncology Dispensing (IOD), infusion services, imaging, and research, the Program Manager is accountable for creating an exceptional patient experience while advancing quality, access, and program growth.

Essential Job ResponsibilitiesClinical Program Leadership

• Oversee the cancer institute strategic initiatives and patient navigators.
• Develop standardized care pathways for prostate, bladder, kidney, and other urologic malignancies and bladder health preservation.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care across Urology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Therapy, Imaging, Infusion, IOD, and Patient Navigation.
• Develop and measure ongoing Key Performance Indicators to gauge program effectiveness

Patient Navigation & Care Coordination

• Lead the patient navigation program to ensure timely diagnosis, treatment initiation, and continuity of care through workflow optimization and analytics
• Oversee the coordination of referrals, multidisciplinary appointments, prior authorizations, financial assistance, and survivorship planning.
• Identify and remove barriers that may delay treatment or impact outcomes.

Oncology Therapy & Integrated Services

• Coordinate systemic therapies, oral oncology medications through IOD, infusion services, and radiation therapy to ensure safe, timely, and efficient care.
• Partner with physicians and pharmacy teams to optimize treatment adherence and patient education.

Quality & Operational Excellence

• Monitor key performance indicators including time to diagnosis, treatment initiation, patient satisfaction, navigation metrics, and clinical outcomes.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives focused on patient access, operational efficiency, and evidence-based care.

Program Development

• Support growth initiatives, physician outreach, survivorship services, clinical trials, and community education.
• Collaborate with physician leadership to expand services and establish the Urological Oncology Program as a regional center of excellence.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) with BSN required (MSN preferred).
• Minimum five years of oncology or urology experience.
• Minimum three years of healthcare leadership or program management experience.
• Strong knowledge of multidisciplinary oncology care, patient navigation, and clinical operations.
• Navigation Nurse Certification within 1 year of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or equivalent certification.
• Experience with urologic oncology, radiation oncology, Integrated Oncology Dispensing (IOD), infusion services, and cancer program accreditation.
• Certified Urology Nurse (CUN) certification

· Collaboration & Relationship Management: Proven ability to build strong partnerships with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, pharmacy, radiation oncology, and ancillary teams.

· Leadership & Communication: Effective leader with strong interpersonal, coaching, conflict resolution, and change management skills who fosters a culture of accountability and teamwork.

· Strategic Thinking: Ability to identify growth opportunities, implement new services, and execute initiatives that enhance the Cancer Institute’s clinical excellence and market presence.

· Analytical & Financial Acumen: Proficient in interpreting operational and clinical metrics, developing performance dashboards, managing budgets, and making data-driven decisions.

· Technology Proficiency: Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), oncology information systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and healthcare analytics/reporting tools.

Education, Licensure, and ExperienceEducation

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), or related graduate degree preferred.
• Nurse Practitioner (NP) with oncology experience strongly preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN®), Certified Urology Nurse (CURN®), or Oncology Nurse Navigator–Certified (ONN-CG®) preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of oncology or urologic oncology clinical experience.
• Minimum of three (3) years of progressive leadership, program management, or care coordination experience.
• Experience in patient navigation, infusion services, oral oncology (IOD), radiation oncology, or multidisciplinary cancer programs preferred.

Physical Requirements

Requires the ability to perform standard office functions, including prolonged sitting, computer use, and occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
