The Nurse’s Aide supports clinical staff in providing high-quality, efficient care to patients in a fast-paced urgent care environment. This role involves assisting with basic patient care, preparing exam rooms, performing approved clinical tasks, and ensuring smooth patient flow. The Nurse’s Aide works under the supervision of nurses, providers, and clinic leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Greet, room, and prepare patients for evaluation.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, and presenting concerns.
- Assist patients with mobility, comfort, and basic needs.
- Support nurses and providers during patient examinations and procedures
- Monitor patient status and promptly report changes to clinical staff.
Clinical Support:
- Perform point-of-care testing (e.g., glucose, urinalysis, strep, flu) as allowed by policy.
- Collect and label specimens accurately.
- Assist with wound care, splinting, and other urgent care procedures (facility-approved).
- Perform EKGs, vision screening, and other delegated tasks.
- Maintain infection control standards, including room cleaning and equipment disinfection.
Operational Tasks:
- Prepare, stock, and organize exam rooms and supply areas.
- Ensure medical equipment is functional and report issues.
- Support patient flow by coordinating with the front desk and clinical team.
- Accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR).
- Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling tests, providing discharge materials, and answering inquiries.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Nurse Aide (CNA), Medical Assistant, or equivalent preferred (depending on state requirements).
- Current BLS/CPR certification.
- Prior experience in urgent care, emergency, or high-volume clinical settings preferred.
