What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paramedic position at Urgent Care 24/7 & Affiliates?
The Paramedic runs the day-to-day operations of the clinic during the shift. You would work alongside the provider (either Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to assess, treat, and discharge patients that come in to be seen. The provider is ultimately responsible for the patient (since they are the highest in level of training) but the paramedic is responsible for running the clinic operation throughout the day.
The paramedic will assess the general impression of the patient, obtain vital signs get a basic H&P, provide any immediately necessary treatment then relay that information to the provider. The provider will fully evaluate the patient and you and the provider will work together to diagnose and treat the patient.
Responsibilities
Register patients into the EMR system and check them out when they are done.
Obtain vital signs and provide any immediate necessary treatment. Relay this to the provider
Assess patient’s injury severity and type and quickly begin appropriate medical procedures.
Administer first-aid treatment and other forms of testing and care to people who are injured or sick.
Operate equipment such as electrocardiograms, vital sign machines and preform IV initiation, blood draw, wound care, and rapid point-of-care testing.
Assess, record, and discuss patient injuries and condition with the physician or provider, including any treatments provided and reactions to treatments or drugs.
Administer medications as appropriate and necessary via injection, intravenous procedures, or oral administration under the direction of a physician or provider.
Clean and decontaminate patient rooms after evaluating and treating patients.
Monitor inventory levels ensuring supplies are well stocked for their shift
Answer telephone calls from potential patients
Requirements
Communicative, confident, and compassionate
Able to multitask and work autonomously
Valid state EMT-P Certification/EMS license
CPR Certification
3 or more years of paramedic experience
IV Certified
