Role Description
The Shop and Fleet Support Technician is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position based in Carlsbad, California. This role provides daily field and shop support to the construction operations team, reporting to the Project Manager. Responsibilities include performing deliveries and pickups of materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites using company vehicles; maintaining job site organization including debris removal and general clean-up; assisting field crews with material handling, staging, and basic site preparation; and keeping the shop clean, organized, and stocked. The technician washes and cleans company trucks, trailers, and equipment on a regular schedule, and performs basic maintenance support for fleet vehicles including checking fluids, tire pressure, and reporting damage or service needs. The role also involves loading, unloading, and securing materials for safe transport, communicating with project managers, superintendents, and office staff on delivery schedules and job site needs, and following all company safety policies.
Qualifications
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to drive company pickups, vans, and trailers safely and confidently
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical labor throughout the workday
- Basic familiarity with construction materials, tools, and job site environments
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and care of company property
- Previous experience in construction labor, warehouse support, fleet support, or a similar role preferred
- Experience with basic vehicle and equipment care preferred
- Comfortable using a smartphone for directions, communication, and delivery coordination
