URBN Payroll Analyst

Role Summary

URBN is searching for a Payroll Analyst. As a member of the URBN Payroll Department, the Payroll Analyst is responsible for multistate payroll administration for roughly 25,000 employees in US and Canada. Candidate should be proficient in using payroll software accurately and efficiently.

Role Responsibilities

• Work in a team environment coordinating with other members in the processing of full cycle bi-weekly payroll.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the payroll system by carefully reviewing all entries made and remaining aware of their impact on the payroll process.
• Compile and review audit reports for variances and change differences; investigate and correct any errors. Verify all data has been input and taxed correctly.
• Make pay adjustments, process merit increases, bonuses, and incentives, and understand required payroll laws.
• Provide support in funding reconciliations, payroll audits, quarterly processing and regulatory reporting as needed.
• Work with payroll outsource partner (UKG) and internal/external partners in the resolution of payroll issues and errors.
• Ability to understand and use various tax publications to help Payroll Operations assure ongoing compliance.
• Assist in the preparation and distribution of various payroll reports to internal/external customers.
• Assist in the review of current payroll processes to identify areas of process improvements and standardization.
• Serve as backup for the Payroll Manager and provide more bandwidth to the overall Department.
• Serve as Payroll tax subject matter expert.
• Assist with managing TPA (Third Party Access) notices. Completing the necessary paperwork and account creation for our Payroll Vendor (UKG).
• Maintain unemployment tax rates and communicate changes to third party tax service.
• Research W-2 Correction inquiries. Complete and submit W-2c’s for review and approval.
• Maintain compliance with all payroll-related regulatory requirements including effective internal controls.
• Always maintain confidentiality regarding associates’ personal information and payroll data.
• Provide high-level of customer support and ensure positive customer interactions.

Role Qualifications

• 5 years of work experience in payroll processing end-to-end, preferably in a multistate setting with geographically dispersed employee base.
• Excellent understanding of payroll principles and advanced knowledge of payroll reconciliation.
• Experience with cloud-based Payroll software required. UKG Pro (formerly UltiPro) a plus.
• Strong Excel skills for data analysis (ex. Pivot Tables, Vlookup).
• Strong understanding of Employment, Payroll, Tax, and Wage & Hour concepts and regulations and all jurisdictional requirements.
• Ability to work with highly confidential information.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
