Industrial Automation Maintenance Specialist

URBN Inc USA
Kansas, KS Other
POSTED ON 8/26/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 9/25/2026
Step into the heartbeat of automated operations

Picture your shift beginning at 5:30pm. You scan the CMMS, prioritize work orders, and head to a conveyor fault reported by production. After a quick LOTO, you trace a sensor issue on a sortation lane, swap the component, recalibrate, and watch throughput recover. The rest of the night blends precision and pace—servicing VFDs, tuning pneumatics, reading schematics to diagnose an intermittent 480V fault, and mentoring a newer tech on PLC/HMI basics. By 4:00am, uptime metrics are back on track and your documentation is clean and complete.

What you’ll do
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical equipment, including systems up to 480V.
  • Service and maintain motors, VFDs, sensors, gearboxes, bearings, and pneumatic circuits.
  • Diagnose and optimize automated material handling: conveyors, sortation, ASRS, and packaging equipment.
  • Clear jams, correct sensor faults, and resolve minor electrical or pneumatic failures quickly and safely.
  • Execute preventive maintenance, perform system calibrations, and contribute to reliability initiatives.
  • Read/interpret electrical schematics and perform basic PLC/HMI diagnostics.
  • Document work orders and maintenance activities in the CMMS with accuracy.
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement to reduce recurrence and improve uptime.
  • Collaborate with peers, vendors, and support teams; coach junior technicians when needed.
What you bring
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting abilities.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics and conveyor systems.
  • Working understanding of PLCs and controls for basic diagnostics.
  • Clear communication, problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
  • 2 years of industrial maintenance experience with automation, conveyors, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read schematics and navigate basic PLC troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms.
Physical requirements
  • Stand and walk for most of the shift.
  • Climb, balance, kneel, crouch, and crawl as tasks require.
  • Reach, pull, push, and lift up to 50 pounds safely.
  • Operate warehouse equipment (pallet jack, box cutter, carts) with coordinated movements.
