Position Summary
The Site Supervisor serves as the primary leader of UrbanPromise Nashville’s afterschool program and summer camp. This position is responsible for the overall quality, safety, culture, and effectiveness of programming for 30-40 elementary-age students and the supervision and development of 15-20 StreetLeaders.
The Site Supervisor serves as the primary contact for camper families, the lead on student discipline, and the face of the program during daily operations. This role requires strong leadership, organization, and a passion for developing both children and young leaders. This role reports to the Executive Director(s).
Time Commitment & Compensation
- Part-Time: Approximately 30 hours per week
- Compensation: $25–30 per hour, depending on experience
- Paid Time Off provided
- School-Year Afterschool Program: Monday–Thursday, 2:00–6:00 PM
- Summer Camp (July): Monday–Thursday, 10:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Additional flexible hours for planning, meetings, family communication, and preparation
- Programming operates approximately 42 weeks per year
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership
- Lead daily afterschool and summer camp programming for elementary-age students
- Foster a safe, welcoming, structured, and engaging program environment
- Serve as the primary contact for camper and student families
- Serve as the face of the program with families, volunteers, partners, and outside teachers
- Build strong relationships with students and families
- Coordinate field trips, guest speakers, and outside enrichment teachers
Lesson Planning & Student Support
- Plan and lead enrichment classes, small group lessons, and whole group lessons
- Oversee homework help and academic support
- Oversee the reading intervention program and Reading Buddies initiative
- Coordinate materials and ensure spaces are prepared for programming
- Maintain consistent routines, transitions, and expectations
Behavior Management
- Lead all student discipline and behavior intervention efforts
- Implement and oversee UrbanPromise Nashville’s Pathways to Success discipline system
- Use trauma-informed and relational behavior support practices
- Partner with families to address ongoing behavioral concerns
- Maintain a positive culture of accountability, belonging, and respect
StreetLeader Supervision & Development
- Directly supervise and coach StreetLeaders
- Train StreetLeaders in leadership, student engagement, and classroom management
- Provide daily feedback and coaching to StreetLeaders
- Oversee StreetLeader evaluations and performance reviews
- Facilitate daily debriefs and leadership development sessions
- Foster a culture of accountability, growth, and excellence
Team Collaboration
- Collaborate with the StreetLeader Coordinator and Program Assistant
- Support volunteers during programming
- Assist with planning camps, special events, and family engagement opportunities
- Communicate program needs, successes, and challenges with leadership
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is measured less by completing tasks and more by the quality of the student experience.
- Students consistently attend, actively participate, and experience the program as a place where they belong.
- Families trust the program and remain engaged throughout the year.
- StreetLeaders receive regular coaching and feedback, demonstrate growth in leadership and responsibility, and feel equipped to lead younger students.
- Homework help, reading intervention, enrichment classes, and other programming are well organized and implemented with excellence.
- The program operates smoothly, with clear routines, strong culture, and effective behavior support systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience working with children in education, youth development, nonprofit, or ministry settings
- Experience planning and leading educational, enrichment, or youth-development programming preferred.
- Strong classroom management and group leadership skills
- Experience supervising, coaching, or mentoring youth leaders preferred
- Ability to plan engaging lessons and activities for elementary-age students
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to lead with initiative, flexibility, warmth, and professionalism
- Comfortable working within a Christian faith-based organization.
