What are the responsibilities and job description for the Architectural Designer or Architect position at URBANO?
URBANO is seeking a highly motivated and detail oriented Architectural Designer or Architect to join our studio focused on adaptive reuse, historic preservation, and new construction. This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about design and ready to grow quickly within a collaborative and mission-driven environment.
The Architectural Designer or Architect will work with the partners and project team on modeling, drafting, visualizations, and project documentation. This is a full-time, in-person position based in Houston, TX.
What are the Critical Tasks & Responsibilities?
• Revit and/or Rhino models from concept through CDs
• Architectural drawings, diagrams, and formatted presentation sets
• Visualizations and renderings for design review and public submittals
• Assist with permit drawings, tax credit documentation, and city presentations
• Follow through on feedback and support the team with high attention to detail
• Contribute to multiple project types, including residential, commercial, and preservation work
What are the Competencies and Qualifications for this job?
Required:
• Minimum of 3-5 years of professional architecture experience
• Degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch)
• Proficient in Revit and/or Rhino
• Strong layout, documentation, and graphic communication skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
Desired:
• Experience with Lumion or other rendering tools
• Interest in preservation / adaptive reuse
• Familiarity with Houston building codes and permitting
• On path to architectural licensure
