Duties and Responsibilities:
Urban Youth Kings & Queens is looking for reliable, responsible, enthusiastic, Sports Camp Group Leader to develop, implement and manage our day to day programming activities and opportunities for our Summer Camp.
Through this opportunity, the Group Leader would lead a group of campers through a daily schedule of activities through Arts & Crafts, Music, Dance and more while providing adequate oversight to campers and support staff, while ensuring the health and safety of each child’s well being.
Specific duties include:
- Assist with the planning, implementing, and evaluation of all activities ensuring campers have a positive and engaging experience (typically 10 - 25 children)
- Lead, officiate, or assist with sports instruction and drills (eg.. soccer, basketball, flag football, and lacrosse)
- Provide guidance, training, and feedback to staff members, including youth workers, to ensure they are equipped to effectively support the campersServe as the point of contact for campers, staff, and parents, communicating updated, concerns and relevant information.
- Setup and breakdown of necessary equipment and play space
- Ensure all necessary materials and equipment needed is available and safe for use
- Assist with the creation and oversight of staff schedules and training when needed
- Be responsible for all documentation including daily rosters, incident reports, checklist, parent communication and weekly newsletters
- Collaborate with family members to ensure any questions or concerns are addressed
- Communicate effectively with Program Director on a daily/weekly basis, both orally and in writing
- Lead special instructions, skills and drills, and group activities when necessary
- Teach various skills and techniques to assist players with instruction and drills
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS :
- Experience working with young children (2 years of prior experience working with children in camp setting, or in a youth coaching and athletics
- Reliable transportation to and from location
- Current clean background check or ability to obtain one (Child Abuse, Criminal Background, FIrst Aid & CPR)
- High energy, strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication, and patience
WORKING CONDITIONS :
- Primarily outdoors on fields, courts, or in gymnasiums, requiring significant mobility and stamina
- Must be able to actively participate in sports, run, and lift/carry equipment weighing at least 35lbs
Pay: $18.00 per hour
