Urban Trauma®, founded by Dr. Maysa Akbar, is a nationally recognized framework that addresses the impact of racial trauma, historical injustices, and systemic oppression on individuals and communities. We partner with schools, agencies, and clinical practices to train providers and ensure fidelity to the Urban Trauma® Model.
Position Overview
We are seeking an Urban Trauma Fidelity Coach to guide and support clinicians working under our contracts. The Fidelity Coach will complete Urban Trauma Certification (training provided) and then provide individual and group supervision to clinicians. This role ensures that clinicians apply racial trauma–informed practices consistently and with fidelity to the Urban Trauma® Model while advancing their professional development.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and group supervision for clinicians in contracted agencies and organizations.
- Coach clinicians to ensure fidelity to the Urban Trauma® Model in clinical practice.
- Develop clinicians’ capacity for racial trauma–informed and culturally responsive care.
- Observe, document, and provide feedback on implementation of model practices.
- Support professional growth through reflective supervision and ongoing learning.
- Collaborate with organizational partners to embed Urban Trauma® principles into their systems of care.
- Stay informed on best practices in trauma-informed care and racial equity.
Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related mental health field.
- Independent clinical licensure (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, PsyD, PhD, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
- Experience providing supervision, coaching, or clinical training.
- Demonstrated commitment to racial equity, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed practices.
- Willingness to become Urban Trauma Certified (training provided).
- Excellent communication, facilitation, and leadership skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience working in urban communities or with marginalized populations.
- Familiarity with schools, child welfare, or community-based agency settings.
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are highly valued.
