Job Summary
Reporting to the executive Director and Resident Aide Manager, the Overnight Resident Aide position is primarily to ensure staffing in case of any incidents or emergencies during the night, and to perform facility cleaning, stocking, maintenance and meal prep if needed, while residents are sleeping. Experience working with diverse ethnic and cultural communities is a must, including, but not limited to the following target populations: people of color, gay/ lesbian/ bisexual/ transgender individuals, individuals with limited English proficiency, undocumented immigrants, substance users, and homeless persons, of varying ages. The Overnight Resident Aide must be comfortable with a setting that focuses on Justice-involved persons, behavioral and mental health, etc.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of clients and employees to maintain security of premises.
2. Conduct room checks every hour; document issues with client compliance with program rules.
3. Ensure safe operations by correcting any spills, report unsafe working conditions or defective equipment.
4. Maintain housekeeping; and verify all common areas, laundry areas and restrooms are clean and disinfected & fully operational; stock program supplies.
5. Assist program staff during provision of services to clients, including breakfast preparation/ serving and ensure client adherence to morning chores prior to leaving.
6. Always interact with clients professionally, focus on de-escalating tense situations.
7. Other activities as required to conduct program and agency objectives.
8. Regular attendance required; position will require flexible hours including weekends, and some holidays.
9. Able to work 5-6 nights per week (overtime for hours past 40 per week).
10. Maintain and uphold Agency mission statement, values, policies, procedures, and principles.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Experience with residential housing as plus but not required.
2. High school diploma or GED.
3. CA Driver’s License.
4. Reliable transportation and car insurance.
5. Great attitude and strong interpersonal skills; and ability to relate to individuals from diverse backgrounds.
6. Ability to master a wide range of information, adapt, take initiative, and work in a team-centered environment.
7. Bilingual Spanish preferred.
8. Maintain and uphold Agency mission statement, values, policies, procedures, and principles.
9. Verification of employment eligibility and passing a background check. Criminal background does not necessarily exclude you as a candidate.
10. Updated tuberculosis test (annual requirement) – read, reviewed and dated by a clinician.

Ergonomically safe office environment with desktop computer, desk, chair, natural light from windows.
Physical Requirements
While performing this job, the Resident Aide typically spends time sitting, standing, walking, carrying (max.50lbs), lifting (max. 50lbs), listening, and speaking. Must be able to comfortably navigate multiple stories of stairs.
Mental Requirements
The Overnight Resident Aide must be able to accommodate any/all the following: distractions, interruptions; uncontrollable changes in priorities/work schedules; and availability for on-call/duty after normal shift and exposure to inappropriate behavior and language of others.
