What You’ll Do
The Grant Writer develops clear, compelling proposals and reports that reflect UMWC’s mission and program impact. This role manages narrative development, gathers information from staff, and ensures that deliverables meet funder guidelines. The Grant Writer will work closely with agency leadership, program managers, and the finance team to prepare accurate and timely submissions.
Key Responsibilities
• Write tailored proposals, letters of inquiry, and funder reports for all program areas
• Coordinate with staff to gather data, stories, and outcomes that support strong narratives
• Develop and maintain consistent messaging that reflects UMWC’s voice
• Conduct background research on prospective funders
• Assist with donor communication materials as needed
• Track deadlines, submission schedules, and reporting requirements
• Ensure all grant materials comply with funder instructions and internal standards
What You’ll Bring
Required
• Proven skill in writing persuasive and well-organized content for nonprofit or philanthropic audiences
• Strong grammar, editing ability, and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently while staying aligned with team needs
• Comfortable collaborating with staff across departments
• Experience in mission-driven or community-based organizations
Preferred
• Experience writing grants for programs related to health, housing, or hunger
• Familiarity with Bloomerang or similar CRM platforms
• Ability to translate program data into funder-ready narratives
• Portfolio of successful proposals or writing samples
