What are the responsibilities and job description for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Specialist position at Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis?
The Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the leading champion of empowerment and opportunity, is seeking a highly motivated individual with a passion for helping others to join our Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) team as a LIHEAP Specialist. This is a temporary position.
Major responsibilities include:
- Provide intake, assessments, and customer service for all LIHEAP clients
- Gather information and documentation required to determine client household eligibility for LIHEAP assistance and non-governmental funding sources.
- Perform processes with accuracy and adherence to program regulations.
- Data entry into an established data base.
- Mail, print, copy, scan, and fax LIHEAP transmittals on a daily basis.
- Maintain organized filing system of client files and other necessary documentation
- Prepare and generate reports according to established deadlines.
- Provide courteous and friendly customer service.
- Assist in program outreach efforts and represents the agency at community events.
The ideal candidate will have:
- An associate's degree or some college coursework in a related field is desirable, a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience of customer service and administrative support
- The ability to demonstrate tact and discretion in preparing, disclosing, and handling information of a confidential and sensitive nature
- The ability to prioritize competing projects with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Deliver excellent customer service
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Pass a criminal background check.
