Position Overview
The Prep Chef plays a key role in ensuring efficient catering output by supporting daily kitchen operations through consistent preparation, organization, and execution. This role is vital in producing high-volume, high-quality food for events while maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and team collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and portion ingredients for catering menus including proteins, vegetables, sauces, and garnishes.
- Follow standardized recipes and production sheets to maintain consistency and quality.
- Assist with bulk batch cooking, event menu assembly, and packaging for delivery.
- Support event execution by ensuring timely prep of hot and cold menu items.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen workspace at all times.
- Properly label, store, and rotate products according to health and safety standards.
- Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to meet production deadlines and event timelines.
- Assist with receiving and organizing product deliveries.
- Uphold sanitation standards and comply with all food safety regulations.
Qualifications
- 1–2 years of professional kitchen experience preferred (catering experience a plus).
- Strong knife skills and familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to follow recipes and execute consistent prep work.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Dependable, organized, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
- Positive team-player attitude with flexibility to support varied catering needs.
