Urban Engineers of New York, D.P.C. is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team in Jersey City. This role supports a variety of infrastructure and building projects across the New York region, including transportation, public works, and large-scale civil engineering initiatives.
About the Role
As an Estimator, you’ll be responsible for preparing and reviewing accurate and detailed cost estimates across all phases of construction. This includes assessing drawings and specifications, coordinating with project teams, and analyzing labor, materials, and equipment costs. You will support decision-making, bid development, and project planning through reliable cost projections.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and review cost estimates for multidisciplinary construction projects
- Evaluate project documents to understand scope and cost implications
- Prepare and analyze cost proposals, change orders, and budget updates
- Coordinate with engineers, architects, project managers, and subcontractors
- Track bids and maintain cost data for ongoing reference
- Adjust estimates to reflect scope changes or evolving conditions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field
- 10–20 years of estimating experience in infrastructure, building, or heavy/civil construction
- Proficiency in unit pricing and cost development using labor, material, and equipment rates
- Expertise in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with estimating software
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and hold a valid driver’s license
