But, we believe that every adult in our community needs to share a core set of values and beliefs in order to give our students and families the school they deserve.What Our Physics and Engineering Teacher Will Do:Mission: Our Physics and Engineering Teacher will design and teach an engaging, hands-on two-year course that introduces students to Engineering as an entry point to Physics, leading to high pass rates on the Regents Physics Exam. Our Physics Teacher will help continue to build and join a department that prepares every student to apply their knowledge to succeed in STEM majors and careers.Job Description: Our Physics and Engineering Teacher needs to be an excellent classroom teacher, have a passion for curriculum design, and must have a strong skill set for differentiating lessons to meet students’ needs. The Physics and Engineering Teacher will:The Physics and Engineering Teacher will Develop and deliver a Physics and Engineering course that engages students with a hands-in introduction to Engineering, delivers excellent results, teaches students to problem solve, and shows students the connections between Engineering, Physics and their other STEM courses (CS and Algebra);Teach four sections of 9th grade Physics & Engineering, with 75% students on track to pass the Regents Physics Exam in 10th grade;Build strong relationships with students, families, and the Bronx community;Lead an advisory, supporting and mentoring 10-15 students and building close relationships with their families;Collaborate with the faculty, students, and parents to build an innovative, exciting, and effective school model that achieves our mission and impacts education reform nationwide.Teachers’ hours will be 8:15-4:30 daily, with the student academic day running from 9:00-1:30 on Wednesdays, and 9:00-4:30 on other days. Teachers may elect to lead an after-school extra-curricular club or coach a sport for an additional stipend. In the summer of the upcoming school year new teacher PD will begin around July 25th, and the school year will begin in late August.Pay and BenefitsSalary: $75,000 - $120,000.
