What are the responsibilities and job description for the Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) Representative — Small Business Financing position at Upwise Capital?
Upwise exists to support and empower small businesses with fast, flexible access to working capital and world‑class service—especially when traditional banks say no. Our experienced funding advisors match owners with reliable financing solutions they can count on, delivered with speed, clarity, and care.
The opportunity
As an MCA Representative, you’ll be the trusted guide for small business owners evaluating short‑term working‑capital options. You’ll run consultative conversations, package files, collaborate with underwriting, and present clear, compliant offers—moving qualified merchants from application to funding quickly. Top performers can achieve six‑figure on‑target earnings (OTE) in year one through our commission structure.
What you’ll do
- Prospect, qualify, and nurture small business owners via phone, email, SMS, and social; manage both marketing‑generated and self‑sourced leads.
- Run discovery to understand revenue patterns, cash‑flow needs, timelines, use of funds, and risk profile.
- Package submissions: collect and review stips (application, IDs, recent bank and/or processor statements), confirm eligibility (e.g., time‑in‑business, average monthly revenue), and address gaps early.
- Partner with underwriting to evaluate deals and structure offers; present options clearly (purchase amount, factor rate/buy rate, daily/weekly remittance, estimated payoff scenarios) and handle objections.
- Guide merchants through e‑signature, closing, and funding; ensure a smooth, timely experience and set expectations for renewals.
- Maintain a clean, current pipeline in Salesforce: stages, tasks, notes, follow‑ups, and forecasts.
- Drive renewals, cross‑sell opportunities, and referrals by delivering responsive post‑funding support.
- Operate with high integrity and compliance: consent‑based outreach (TCPA), DNC hygiene, accurate product positioning (purchase of receivables, not a loan), and adherence to applicable state commercial financing disclosure laws. Training provided.
What you’ll bring
- High‑volume sales drive: outbound calling, persistent follow‑up, and disciplined pipeline management.
- Strong consultative skills: discovery, value framing, objection handling, and closing.
- Financial acumen: comfort reading bank statements (balances, deposits, NSFs, seasonality) and explaining MCA structures (factor rate, remittance methods like ACH/split, positions/stacking, early payoff, and renewal mechanics).
- Tools: proficiency with Salesforce (CRM) and Microsoft Office; quick to learn new systems.
- Team mindset with ownership—organized, coachable, and accountable to goals.
Preferred qualifications
- 1–3 years in MCA or SMB working‑capital sales (or adjacent: equipment financing, term loans, card processing, ISO/broker channels).
- Experience with high‑velocity sales environments (call blocks, talk‑time, activity targets).
- Bilingual skills are a plus.
Minimum qualifications
- Proven inside/B2B sales experience, lead generation, and customer service excellence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast‑paced, goal‑driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field preferred—or equivalent track record of sales performance.
Schedule and location
- On‑site in the 110 Business District (Melville, NY).
- Typical coverage aligns with small‑business hours; occasional early/late blocks to reach multiple time zones.
Growth at Upwise
- Training on MCA products, underwriting criteria, and compliant selling.
- Clear paths to Senior MCA Rep, Team Lead, Funding Advisor, or Account Management.
- Regular coaching, call reviews, and 1:1s to accelerate ramp and results.
