General Service Technician

Uptown Car care Center is an automotive service leader focused on providing the highest level of customer service. We are currently looking for an experienced General Service Automotive Technician for our location in the Galleria Area to assist our customers with all of their service needs. As a General Service Automotive Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of vehicles through various maintenance and repair tasks.

The General Service Automotive Technician (Tire, Lube, etc.) will perform non-technical service repairs such as oil changes, tire and wheel related services, alignments, flushes, batteries, light bulbs replacements, and more. Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducts State Emission Inspections on vehicles in an ethical manner following all company and state guidelines.
• Performs tire mounting/dismounting, wheel balance, alignments and tire rotation.
• Performs oil changes, flushes, batteries, light bulbs replacements and other basic services at the direction of the Service Advisor.
• While performing basic services, observes general vehicle condition and points out any obvious needed repairs or safety concerns to the Service Advisor.
• Utilizes the company’s Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order to properly document the vehicle condition.
• Maintains cleanliness in the work / service area, tire racks, etc.
• Follows all safety procedures and reports any concerns to the Shop Manager.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of service requests while adhering to safety protocols.
• Operates company vehicle in a safe and courteous manner obeying all traffic laws.

Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of experience
• Must have State Inspector's License
• Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance and repair tasks.
• Familiarity with various automotive systems and components
• Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively.
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Automotive experience preferred
• Possess valid Driver’s License
• Ability to work a minimum of five days, including Saturday's

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

The General Service Automotive Technician will be exposed to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. The temperature in the work environment varies and could include extreme heat and/or extreme cold depending on the ambient temperatures outside. The General Service Technician must be able to meet the following physical requirements:

• Stand up to eight hours per day in the shop and able to walk to gain access to various areas of the building
• Bend, stoop, kneel and crouch regularly throughout the day; must have full range of motion with arms and hands and be able to feel, handle or finger objects frequently
• Lift and/or move up to 15 pounds regularly, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently.
• Hear and speak
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus

Candidates must have a high level of motivation and be able to work in a fast-paced environment, as there is always something to do. Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, motor vehicle report (MVR), and criminal background check.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
