We are a virtual firm with a significant client presence in the area and seeking someone who is comfortable with remote/virtual clients meetings as well as in person meetings for the local client base.
Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable, client-focused Tax Advisor who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment. This role involves year-round engagement with clients, tax planning, tax return preparation, and advising on complex business and individual tax matters. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and excited about working in a boutique setting where your contributions are recognized and valued.
What You’ll Do
· Provide customized tax planning tailored to each client’s financial goals
· Prepare individual, business, and fiduciary tax returns (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1041)
· Conduct research on complex federal and state tax issues using authoritative sources
· Communicate tax concepts clearly and professionally to clients
· Assist clients with tax notices, projections, estimated payments, and advisory questions
· Review accounting records, financial statements, and trial balances for tax implications
· Participate in client onboarding, workflow improvement, and internal process development
· Support entity selection, business formation, and restructuring advisory
· Work directly with firm owners/partners on client strategy and deliverables
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax law changes and industry trends
What We’re Looking For
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s in Taxation a plus)
· CPA or EA preferred (or actively pursuing certification)
· 1–4 years of tax experience in public accounting (boutique or small firm experience ideal)
· Strong working knowledge of federal and state tax law
· Proficiency in tax software (UltraTax, Drake)
· Experience with QuickBooks Online/Desktop and standard accounting principles
· Excellent communication, client service, and analytical skills
· Ability to manage multiple clients, deadlines, and priorities
· Self-motivated professional who enjoys a flexible, collaborative environment
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience in a boutique CPA or advisory firm
· Familiarity with small-business advisory (CAS, payroll support, cleanup work, etc.)
· Comfort with modern firm tech ( Karbon, Client Portals, etc.)
· Interest in continuous improvement and firm-wide growth initiatives
