A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A WILDLIFE TECHNICIAN
Your primary focus will be to identify, remove, prevent, or repair anything damaged by wildlife. Your first course of action will be to ask questions on the issue your customer is experiencing. Problem solving will help you form an in-depth inspection of the customer's homes to find the source of the issue. Your wealth of knowledge about wildlife and carpentry will help you determine the best solution and explain to the customer your next steps. This work is often done from rooftops, ladders, crawlspaces and may require basic carpentry.
- Exterior and interior repairs caused by wildlife: soffit/fascia fixes, sealing foundations, vents, roofs, and siding gaps.
- Install wildlife solutions: gutter guards, chimney caps, drip edges, plumbing/roof vent guards, and custom barriers.
- Perform precise sealing of entry points using carpentry, roofing, and construction techniques.
- Handle attic/crawlspace cleaning, sanitation, insulation work, and vapor barrier installation as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong and excellent communication skills in negotiation, customer service, and lead generation to drive business success.
- Ability to work independently in the field
- Knowledge of wildlife management practices or related environmental services is a plus but not mandatory; training will be provided.
- Ability to pass and maintain any state regulatory agency required licensing/certification exams.
- Able to pass internal technical exams
- Present a professional appearance, including wearing an approved UPSTATE WILDLIFE SOLUTIONS uniform, which will be provided
- Able to work a 40-hour work week
- Willing to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Background in construction, carpentry, roofing, handyman services, or wildlife exclusion/repair (1 years preferred in any of these areas).
- Comfortable and confident using tools, ladders (up to 40 ft), and working in attics, crawlspaces, and outdoors.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and handle physical work safely.
- Self-motivated, organized, and reliable
