Structural Steel Estimator

Upstate Steel is a family-owned company and a leading fabricator and supplier of structural steel, sheet, and plate. We serve a wide range of industries, including commercial construction, residential building, municipalities, and highway/bridge (DOT) projects. Our in-house capabilities include shearing, sawing, CNC cutting, forming, rolling, and code welding.

We are seeking a detail-oriented Steel Fabrication Estimator to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

· Review and interpret structural and architectural drawings and specifications

· Prepare accurate estimates for steel quantities, processing, and labor

· Communicate with customers, engineers, and designers regarding project details and RFIs

· Collaborate with the sales team on bid strategy and CRM updates

· Track bid schedules, addenda, and deadlines to ensure timely submissions

· Maintain organized records of estimates and project documentation

· Ensure accuracy in takeoffs, steel weights, and cost projections

· Provide excellent customer service throughout the bidding process

· Assist with additional tasks as needed to support operations

Required Qualifications:

· 1–2 years of construction or related experience preferred

· Experience with estimating or drafting software (Tekla preferred)

· Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

· Strong math, communication, and organizational skills

· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

· High attention to detail

· Field experience is a plus
