We are looking for reliable and professional individuals to join our team as Public Safety Officers.
Position Overview
As a Public Safety Officer with Upstate Paradox Public Safety, you will be responsible for helping maintain a safe and secure environment at various client locations. Assignments may include businesses, construction sites, private properties, events, parking areas, and other contracted locations.
Depending on the assignment, officers may perform stationary security, foot patrols, vehicle patrols, event safety, access control, or overnight property protection.
Our officers are expected to be observant, dependable, professional, and capable of handling situations calmly and appropriately.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a professional and visible public safety presence at assigned locations
- Conduct routine foot and/or vehicle patrols of properties
- Monitor entrances, exits, parking areas, buildings, and surrounding property
- Help prevent trespassing, theft, vandalism, property damage, and other unauthorized activity
- Monitor and control access to restricted or private areas when required
- Observe and document suspicious activity or safety concerns
- Respond appropriately to incidents and contact law enforcement, fire, EMS, management, or other emergency services when necessary
- Use verbal communication and de-escalation whenever appropriate
- Complete accurate incident reports, patrol reports, and activity logs
- Communicate professionally with clients, employees, customers, event attendees, and members of the public
- Follow client-specific post orders and Upstate Paradox Public Safety policies
- Maintain confidentiality regarding clients, assignments, and incidents
- Arrive on time, in proper uniform, and prepared for each scheduled assignment
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Must possess a valid New York State Security Guard Registration Card or meet the requirements necessary to obtain proper registration before performing security guard duties
- Reliable transportation to and from assignments
- Reliable means of communication
- Strong communication and observation skills
- Ability to remain professional during stressful or confrontational situations
- Dependable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Availability for nights, weekends, holidays, and special events is strongly preferred
For assignments involving driving, applicants may also be required to possess a valid driver’s license and meet company driving requirements.
For armed assignments, applicants must possess all New York State licensing, registration, firearms training, and other credentials required for armed security work.
Physical Requirements
Depending on the assignment, officers should be able to:

What We’re Looking For
We are looking for individuals who take public safety seriously. Previous security, military, corrections, law enforcement, fire/EMS, or customer-service experience is beneficial, but professionalism, reliability, good judgment, and a willingness to learn are equally important.
