What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Class A Driver position at Upstate NY Manufacturer?
Local manufacturer seeks Class A drivers, to work on delivery routes out of our North Syracuse facility. Requirements include loading and unloading, good customer service skills, a solid work history, and a clean CDL license. This is a full time position with a competitive benefits package.
Job Duties
- Maintains a valid CDL A license at all times.
- Must be able to drive a standard transmission
- Drives trucks safely between plants and to customer locations.
- Loads truck with product in a safe and efficient manner.
- Documents EDL logs work/rest periods per DOT regulations.
- Documents miles driven, collects toll receipts and other expenses.
- Complies with all NYS/DOT driving rules and regulations including size, weight, route designations, parking, rest periods, etc.
- Notifies Warehouse Managers of any repairs or adjustments that are required.
- Conducts pre-trip/post-trip inspection of vehicle; notifies of unsafe conditions.
- Participates in accident investigations, when necessary.
- Attends safety meetings and other trainings as assigned.
- Recognizes and adjusts for traffic and weather related changes; maintains alertness and appropriate response times by using safe driving techniques.
- Review schedules, delivery/warehouse appointments daily
- Complies with G&L Davis Vehicle Safety Program.
- Performs basic interior and exterior sanitation functions; keeps cab free from debris.
- Maintains a basic understanding of GMPs, Food Safety and Food Security.
- Performs all duties necessary to meet Company, and/or Government requirements and standards as prioritized by the Company, HACCP and SQF.
- Ensures that customer collected funds are kept secure and manage all DSD/DEX invoices
- Report all errors/issues to sales director in real time promptly
- Operate a pallet jack and other warehouse equipment
- Requires multiple shift work between driving and warehouse. Shift times vary, with early morning start times through late-night start
- Performs other duties as assigned (including warehouse activities).
OTHER DUTIES (NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)
- Identify problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the raw material, processes, quality systems, or safety system by performing Production/Quality checks as assigned.
- Notifies Food Safety Manager or any other Management personnel of ANY Food Safety or Quality issues.
- Assists in putting up orders; assists in production
