Job Summary
The Front Office Manager is responsible for management and administration of front desk functions for the Downtown Adult Hematology Oncology (AHO) Department at the Upstate Cancer Center. This includes oversight and supervision of check-in, check-out, scheduling, and telephone staff and workflows. Supervision includes orientation of new staff, completing performance programs and evaluations, setting staffing schedules including coordination of vacation and sick leave coverage, holding staff meetings, and evaluating staffing needs. The Manager is responsible for building and editing clinic templates, preparing behavioral agreements and discharges according to policy, resolving day-to-day front end issues in collaboration with other managers and staff as needed. The Manager will ensure efficient and timely flow of patients through the AHO Office in collaboration with physicians, Fellows, APPs, nursing, MOAs, pharmacy staff, back office staff, and administrative leadership. The Manager supports the development of and ensures adherence to policies and procedures relevant to Front Office functions, as well as assists with long range planning and operational improvements. This position must work effectively with external departments including Lab, Registration, Radiology, Pharmacy, Physical Plant, Environmental Services. The Front Office Manager identifies and acts on opportunities for operational and quality improvement initiatives with patient experience in mind while cultivating a positive environment for the department.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field with 3 years of experience in a healthcare setting OR Associates Degree in Healthcare Administration or related field and 5 years experience in a healthcare setting required. Two years of supervisory or mentorship experience required. In addition, this position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and must possess excellent computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with electronic medical records.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in front desk and scheduling functions in a cancer care setting preferred.
