What are the responsibilities and job description for the Automotive Window Tint Installer (2+ Yrs) - XPEL Shop., 6 Years in Business position at Upstate Auto Styling?
If you've been tinting for a while, you know how bad shops work:
- One car on the board and you're sitting around, getting paid like it's your fault.
- Hand-cutting bulk in a hot, dusty garage under one shop light, fighting contamination all day.
- An owner who sells tint for $99 a car, then yells at you over a light gap.
- "Growth opportunities" that never show up.
We built this shop so you don't deal with any of that.
I'm Vlad, owner of Upstate Auto Styling in Spartanburg. We're an XPEL dealer with 625 five-star Google reviews, and we do tint, PPF and ceramic. We're adding a tinter because the board is full.
What you're walking into
- Steady volume, 4 cars a day. Marketing, sales and booking are handled. Your job is to tint.
- Plotter XPEL DAP patterns. Computer-cut, so you're not burning film freehanding.
- XPEL PRIME film (CS, XR, XR Plus). Quality film that shrinks right.
- Climate-controlled, clean, well-lit bay. Set up to keep contamination out.
- Premium pricing. We don't race the cheap tint guys, so you're not rushing six cars just to make a day's pay.
Pay: base vs commission
Every week you get either a guaranteed base or your commission on what you installed, whichever is higher. A slow week, you're covered. A busy week, you eat. Experienced tinters here should land $55K–$75K in year one, and top producers go past that.
- $2,000 signing/relocation bonus, paid out over your first 90 days
- A real path to Lead Installer, and into leadership at Location 2 when we open it
Schedule: Mon–Fri 8am–6pm, rotating Saturdays (9am–3pm). No 8pm nights.
What you bring
- 2 years of automotive tint, running full cars solo: 2 fronts, full sides, back glass, windshields
- You can shrink a back glass clean, handle dot matrix, and keep your edges tight
- You can hand-cut when there's no pattern. Plotter experience is a plus.
- You show up when you say you will, with reliable transportation
- You live within about 50 miles of Spartanburg (Greenville, Greer, Simpsonville, Gaffney, Anderson, Easley, Shelby NC, Hendersonville NC) or are willing to relocate
Not a fit if you've had 4 jobs this year, you can't take feedback on your work, or you're "just trying it out."
