The Role
Upsolve is hiring a paralegal to help us serve low-income immigrants seeking asylum and work permits.
As an Immigration Paralegal at Upsolve, you will play a pivotal role in our efforts to assist individuals seeking asylum and related work permits in partnership with LA County. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting our clients over email and through our help center when they need information about asylum and our service. You will also be responsible for helping our clients update their forms, including asylum applications (Form I-589), addressing any complications in their cases, and keeping them up to date around important deadlines and instructions.
Along with supporting our clients, you will provide feedback to our engineering team on how to improve our product, based on what you hear from users.

You Are a Good Fit If:
You have a track record of helping low-income communities and immigrants, or have a personal connection to our work
You have experience as a paralegal or in a customer success role
You are a great writer and problem solver with experience breaking down complicated topics for different audiences
You are technologically proficient
You have strong communication skills, both written and verbal
You have excellent attention to detail
You are empathetic and passionate about serving low-income individuals and contributing to access to justice
You have bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
You Are Not a Goof Fit If:
You have plans to apply to law school in the next 2-3 years
You have no prior experience in paralegal, customer support, or direct service roles
Compensation
A salary of $55,000 per year plus benefits (including health care reimbursements and a 401k plan), commensurate with experience
