What are the responsibilities and job description for the VP Product position at Upriver?
Upriver is building the first Autonomous Data Engineer: an AI teammate that understands your data platform and automates data engineering workflows end-to-end. Founded by Talpiot alumni (the elite IDF R&D leadership program whose members went on to found Wiz and Check Point) and backed by leading data and AI investors, we recently closed our seed and are scaling fast. We’re looking for a strategic VP Product to define and lead Upriver’s product vision and execution from the ground up.
What You'll Do:
- Product Vision & Strategy: Own Upriver’s product direction. Define and evolve the roadmap to build the category-defining Autonomous Data Engineer, working closely with the founders.
- Customer & Market Insight: Deeply understand data engineers, platform teams, and modern data stacks. Translate real-world pain into product opportunities.
- Execution & Delivery: Partner with engineering and design to ship high-impact features quickly, balancing speed with quality.
- Cross-functional Leadership: Work closely with founders, go-to-market, and customers to ensure tight feedback loops between product, sales, and user needs.
- Team Building: Hire and lead a world-class product team as the company scales.
Requirements:
- Proven experience leading product organization in a high-growth startup, ideally in data infrastructure, developer tools, or AI.
- Strong technical depth and intuition- comfortable working closely with engineers and understanding technical workflows.
- Track record of building and shipping complex, technical products from 0→1 and beyond.
- Customer-obsessed, with the ability to turn ambiguous problems into clear product direction.
- Entrepreneurial mindset- thrives in fast-moving, early-stage environments.
