Position Summary
The DSP Support Manager oversees staffing, training, scheduling, and documentation to ensure consistent, person-centered supports that promote each individual's health, safety, independence, goals, and overall well-being.
Working closely with Service Coordinators, the Program Director, Associate Program Director, and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), this role helps maintain service quality, support employee performance, and ensure operational and documentation requirements are completed accurately and on time.
Key ResponsibilitiesStaff Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise, support, and develop a team of Direct Support Professionals (DSPs).
- Conduct monthly supervision meetings and document them in BambooHR.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and timely performance feedback.
- Utilize DSP Lead Observation Forms to inform training, coaching, and employee development.
- Partner with leadership and Human Resources to address performance concerns and corrective action when necessary.
- Facilitate monthly staff meetings to strengthen communication, engagement, and professional growth.
Staffing & Scheduling
- Manage staff schedules to ensure consistent services for individuals supported.
- Ensure schedules accurately reflect funded hours, Employee Assignment Numbers (EANs), and staffing vacancies.
- Communicate schedule changes to staff and Service Coordinators by Wednesday for the following week.
- Coordinate coverage for call-outs, emergencies, and unexpected absences.
- Review and approve vacation and time-off requests while maintaining staffing levels.
- Meet regularly with Human Resources regarding vacancies, EANs, and staffing needs.
- Adapt scheduling priorities to meet changing program and individual needs.
Training & Professional Development
- Coordinate all required individual-specific training before staff begin providing supports.
- Schedule and monitor refresher trainings and annual training requirements.
- Develop onboarding schedules for new hires aligned with agency training plans.
- Attend and participate in supervisory and required agency trainings.
- Identify ongoing learning opportunities that support staff success.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Review and approve employee timesheets and mileage submissions.
- Cross-reference UKG, CareLogic, Company Mileage, and master schedule records to support accurate billing.
- Support DSPs in completing weekly ISA outcome documentation.
- Ensure operational records and documentation are completed accurately and timely.
- Maintain compliance with agency policies, procedures, and person-centered practices.
Team Collaboration & Crisis Response
- Meet bi-weekly with the Program Director and Associate Program Director to discuss updates, challenges, and staffing needs.
- Communicate emergent concerns promptly.
- Coordinate staff participation in individual team meetings while maintaining service coverage.
- Respond effectively to urgent situations involving individuals, staff, or program operations.
- Act as a positive role model and represent UVS professionally in all interactions.
QualificationsRequired
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license.
- Reliable transportation and insurance that meets Vermont legal requirements.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage as needed.
Preferred
- One year or more of experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Experience in crisis intervention and supporting individuals with complex behavioral and mental health needs.
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience.

Schedule
This is a full-time exempt position.
Availability may include:
- Days, evenings, and weekends

Physical & Environmental Requirements
This position may require:
- Extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting
- Household support activities including cooking, cleaning, and laundry
- Community participation and outdoor activities, including hiking
- Transporting individuals receiving services
- Physical and emotional self-regulation during challenging situations
