Overview

We are seeking an experienced professional to help design and supervise the daily operations of the Haven’s brand-new Leahy Resource Center. The Resource Center Supervisor will direct shelter staff and provide training and support to ensure consistent and trauma-informed delivery of services to guests. Daily responsibilities include relationship building, maintaining a safe, clean, and inviting setting, managing supplies, oversight of the budget, data entry, scheduling of staff and volunteers, as well as other administrative functions. The person in this position ensures all policies and procedures are up to date and consistently followed. This person will also carry a caseload of community clients and work in collaboration with three other Service Coordinators on site.

Compensation

This is a full-time, site-based, Monday to Friday position and the salary range is $62,000 to $66,000 depending on education and experience.  Some evening hours may be required. As the Resource Center operates 7 days/week, the position requires active engagement with the operations of the Resource Center through monitoring of shift notes and occasional consultation with the Adult Clinical Manager to address emergent conditions and decisions impacting safety and quality.  This position may also include 24/7 on-call duties on a rotating basis.



Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and supervise staff, volunteers, and interns
  • Facilitate team meetings and provide hands-on training opportunities
  • Oversee staff scheduling to provide appropriate coverage
  • Communicate consistently and clearly with other departments to support smooth operations
  • Ensure trauma-responsive service delivery
  • Build solid and collaborative relationships with partner agencies
  • Assist with program design and implementation including educational offerings, workshops, and clinics
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting environment
  • Maintain thorough and professional documentation
  • Ensure policies and procedures are followed and standards are achieved
  • Carry a caseload of community clients and collaborate with fellow Service Coordinators

 

Critical Competencies:

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills to manage staff, interns, and volunteers effectively.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with guests, staff, and community partners. Verbal de-escalation and advocacy skills a must.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to assess situations quickly and develop effective solutions even in the midst of a crisis.
  • Empathy: A compassionate and strengths-based approach to working with individuals experiencing homelessness
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Dependability: Proven track record of reliability and punctuality.
  • Supervision: Prior experience supervising staff or interns.
  • Experienced: Prior work in homeless services, preferably shelters or resource centers, with a strong understanding and comfort with harm reduction, mental health, substance mis-use, chronic health conditions, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Skilled: Clinical knowledge to guide ethical decision making.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or related field required with a master’s degree preferred
  • Experience in social services, nonprofit settings, or homeless services
  • Prior case management experience and/or related internships, volunteer work, or work experience in addition to formal education.
  • Relevant certifications in social work, mental health, or crisis intervention a plus
